Better Protection for Middle Eastern Women Project

Domestic violence may take different forms in different cultures. Some can be extremely brutal. What ever the form it takes domestic violence is a violation of women’s human rights. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), honour based violence, forced marriage are violations of women’s internationally recognised rights to make autonomous decisions about issues such as marriage, divorce, and whether to have sex and with whom.

Women survivors of DV from Middle Eastern communities, including those who are recently arrived in this country have various protection issues and additional barriers to safety. This project is aiming to improve the professional response to DV experienced by Middle Eastern women by providing knowledge and skills for professionals to provide specialist support to ensure that they receive the protection and safety.

The project provides training and guides for professionals to improve their response to DV.... click here for more information
